Yes it does, and you know it.

DVD+r is the newer format enhanced for video media.

Dual Layer technology is DVD+R

Compatability Issues are no longer a big problem as the drives you buy today are good to go

DVD-r Recorders are old skool

DVD-r is netto media (quantity not quality)

oh and this review: http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/113

Buy this months "What Video" magazine, look at the Test Data of the DVD recorders, I cant be bothered to type out all thats in print for anyone to read but here's a tiny bit.

Philips DVD+R
S-Video -4.56db, poor
composite -4.55db poor
audio jitter 229.6ps very good
Quotes from the magazine
"Recorded images are not so impressive"
"the FACT that you can't capture broadcast quality images even at the highest quality recording level is a problem"

Panasonic DVD-R
Composite -38.9db average
S-video -74.4db Very Good
Audio Jitter 310.7ps Good
Quotes from the magazine
"Pictures look EXACTLY the same as source"
"Phenominal Machine"

Over all the DVD+R machines came out best on looks, but then so did their Video2000 recorders, their N1300, N1400, N1500 and Laser Disks systems ( I bought into a few of these) anyone remember any of those video systems? No? Looks dont go for everything.
In the early 80s if you went to any market you could pick up anything on pirate VHS, betamax was there but rare and there was no one doing Philips V2000. Its the same now, go to any market or car boot pirate movies are all over the place and you must admit that you never get offered pirate movies on DVD+R, like it or not DVD-R is the choice of bootleggers and pirates and in the long term that and a deal with rental shops is the reason VHS won the systems wars in the 80s.
I can record both systems no problem but with DVD+R disks twice the price of DVD- why should I or anyone bother to. On this Forum the system of choice does seem to be DVD+R but your living on an island, the biggest collectors dont use it and the ones that did a few years back switched to DVD-r at least a year ago. You may not like what your reading but I have no reason to lie.

Im taking about DVD+r Disks as a media, not the differences between Philips and Panasonic video encoding Technology.

From paper, to floppy, to cdr, to dvd-r, to dvd+r..a trend?

Wheres the DVD-R dual layers?

Sorry I thought you were going on about systems, kinda read it while my two year old son tried to destroy another computer.
Dual Layer is looking like a good new toy but some twat will no doubt post up something about Blue ray coming and being better, time travel will be here before Blue ray.

DVD-R is more compatable than +R on dvd players and often cheapers. Only advantage that +R has is that the stand-alones dvd recorders will generally be +R. I've got a dual format pc burner so it affects me little. :)
