Blu ray, Here we go again!

In another thread here we kinda joked about Blu ray, but its certainly reared its head this time and its all systems go.
As usual there are two formats of it. Check this out.

I'd have to assume that Sony will win with all the support it has. The technology sounds really exciting but it wil be awhile be for it becomes affordable. Probably 2+years to meet the current $ levels.

I am certainly not gonna buy into either Blu Ray format until we have leader. I like Sony product and have a lot of Sony gear here but I bought into Betamax and after that Superbeta, how many of you even heard of Superbeta?
I paid £1000 for a Superbeta machine in 1988 which was way over the odds for a recorder even back then just to see Beta and Supbeta die in Europe soon after. :cry:
I wonder if Sony will do the same with their Blu Ray machines as they do right now with their DVD standalone recorders, they have a spoiler built in so that you can make a perfect copy from a master TV/Sat recording but a further copy from that first copy starts to become unstable further down the line and I think thats totally :wank: Hence I dont buy Sony DVD recorders.
