At the two gigs he done at the weekend IB played loads of old roses stuff and was joined by the John and Mani from tribute band Fools Gold.

Tracklisting was:

01. I Wanna Be Adored
02. Sally Cinnamon
03. Sugar Spun Sister
04. Waterfall
05. Mersey Paradise
06. Made Of Stone
07. She Bangs The Drums
08. Where Angels Play
09. Elizabeth My Dear
10. I Am The Resurrection
11. Fools Gold
12. My Star
13. Dolphins Were Monkeys
14. Golden Gaze
15. F.E.A.R.
16. Time Is My Everything

From what Ive read on other forums Ian was sounding the best he ever has live and the tribute guys were pretty good as well. This was recorded officialy from the soundboard and cameras so hopefully there will be a CD/DVD release.

I am looking for audience recording of these gigs as well and have put a post in the wanted section.

Ian should have at least had the real Mani play bass. Mani's the one who wanted to do a reunion. :(

Should have got the real John Squire as well and made us all very very happy :-)

I can imagine how good it was docker. One of the best moments of my life was when I was at an Ian gig at the Barrowlands and they played the first couple of lines of Fools Gold. Would have loved to have see Ian do all them songs. Hope it wasnt a one (well two really) off.

I think it might have been a one off. He may still do roses songs but i doubt hell do that many in one gig again. I imagine his next tour will be to promote "Solarised" his new album.

BB Mac, you've gotta get us a copy if it isn't released.

Suppose it could be a bonus disc on the new album could it?

Didn't this gig have fans arguing about Brown only miming the words because he was so good?
As much as I'd love to see the original roses play live and reform, I can't help but feel that it wouldn't be the same and somethings are better left alone.
I think people highlight the Brown/Squire breakdown as the biggest obsticle. But remember it was Reni who walked out first, he could possibly be just as hard to get back in the same room with the others, as with Squire and Brown.

i think for defo it should be left now! they'll always be remembered as the best band of the mid 80's and early 90's, i read an interview with ian brown that he wouldn't want to get back now as it would ruin it, but mani said on soccer am last season u can never rule it out! but i can't see it happening! think too much has happened!

Nostalga (spelling) is a great thing

I was at Claremont and it was incredible! (save the tribute act - would've been a million times better with the really Squire and Mani)... off to Glasgow in October where I'm expecting to hear a few Roses tunes!

Just saw him on T4 and by the sounds of things he will play a few Roses songs.

Basically he said the reason he hadnt played them before now was because he wanted to establish himself as a solo artist rather that the singer from the Stone Roses and he feels he has done this now.

I'm gonna try recording as well - never done it before so it'll prob be shite.

Any idea what the setup is on the doors as far as getting minidisc in??? I dont remeber being searched or there being metal detectors the last time i was there.
