Why are uk boys calling football 'soccer' as they do in usa?

I thought only usa people called football 'soccer' so I sure hope that does not mean usa terms are becoming the standard acceptable terms for uk citisens. :\

I think everyone should maintain their own terms and traditons in order to prevent the usa cultural take over of world.

in ireland some people call football soccer - the reason for this is because Gaelic football is called "football"
