If doing a guide for other people to use, then Put at the Start of the Topic

[Guide]

So that It will get sticky'd and people can get info easily enough.

You can ask questions and stuff in here also, no problems :D

Try to make guides with as much info as possible, and if your stealing the guide from another website, just make sure you credit the person you stole it from.

People will want info on, how to seed torrents, how to download torrents, running an ftp, accessing an ftp, using dvd author, tmpgenc, best program to burn wav's with, copying cd's perfectly, why not to burn mp3's. etc etc

So anything you got just shove it in here.

I will sticky this for a few weeks

Also this would be a good forums to use Rating of threads, so people know if they are good guides or not :D

Should we have it that when people ask questions they are stickyed to the top until an solution has been reached, then with a little work that could be edited down into a new guide, while maintaining some sort of organisation. Hopefully we could index such guides into catagories while going along so that people can find answers simply and quickly and so the same questions aren't asked repeatedly like what happens on other forums.

If the forum starts to take off, I will have a thing for the mods to search,(hopefully get some good techy mods in here also, lemme know if yer a bit of a techy)

Whats the search thing will do is, search a forums for any unanswered posts, and list them all, so you can look through them to be answered.

But once a question is answered you can close the thread, and then if there are similar threads asking the same questions, threads can also be merged, adding the posts onto the end of them, thus allowing for the whole thing to be edited down, and having guides.

So pretty much what ya said, but a different way of doing it :D

Aye, but that way only the mods can find out which posts are unanswered, if they are all left at the top then anyone can see easily and quickly and a question which they no the answer to may catch there eye on the way past.

Did you like my index idea though? I reckon managing the guide is a good idea, as when your looking for something to help the answer will contain it. If you have to read through a whole thread of merged answers containing several answers containing the same points over again and only differing slightly and only one containing the actual bit of info you need.

Yeah, tis a good idea for the Indexing of stuff :D

Spose yeah, could just stick a load of the unanswered stuff. But see how it goes at 1st, and if topics start to drain away without answers, they could get stuck etc.

See how it pans out anyway :D

Gonny do a guide for tmpgenc at some point, so wee brian can author his own films he has :D

Was that your main reason for this board?

heh not really :p

But tmpgenc is good for making files so they are able to burn to DVD or so that they can be burnt as VCD/KVCD/SVCD also, as in music gigs. So I thought this would be a good start, killing 2 birds with 1 stone :D

Smart arse!

Fine then be like that :D

I reckon another mod should be appointed to though, because it could become a big job.

Can we have an election for the other, and policy's etc, then we can vote.

It will be exciting
