call me slow, but what do you mean by the generation of a dvd? I know its got somethin to do with if its the original one, or if its been copied a few times or so....

Master is Direct from the VHS to DVD
DTV is Direct from Digital to DVD, no vhs involved

1st Generation is a copy of the Master Video
2nd Generation is a copy of the 1st Generation

etc etc
