What you think of the newer stuff that Stereophonics have done?

me personally, I think they went downhill after Word Gets Around, fucking class album. I went to see them 4 times in that era, but after the 2nd album I wasnt really interested. But they started to get more fans which was weird heh

i totally agree! although i still loves the phonics this is a constant and on going arguement with me and a few mates! i got word gets around when it first came out and it was fucking mint! one of the best albums i own! but although the albums after that were good they never could match word gets around! but performances and cocktails got excellent reviews and sales! i've only been to see them once at sheffield last novemeber and it was a classic gig!

Yep, the albums get progressively worse as you go through them in order of release.

Apparently Kelly has written all of the tracks for the new album on a Fender electric guitar whereas he was previously writing on an acoustic. Supposedly thay have the energy of the first album.

lets hope that it lives up to it again, cause they are actually a really good band live, but would prefer to see them if they didnt play shitloads of tunes that make people put a lighter in the air (reminds me of when Noel said not to do that at a gig during DLBIA)

The last Phonics album is awful! Not one song on it would have even made it as a b side to a song off Word gets around! I like performance and cocktails though, some songs on that like bartender and t-shirt suntan are class!

I too found the first album great, 2nd was good, but seemed to have similarities to the first album. 3rd album had a different sound but wasn't very good, 4th album, listened to it once and never since and probably never again.

It pissed me off too when they rereleased the newer 2 albums with extra tracks. Hanbags and Gladrags wasn't great, but Moviestar was better than the whole of "You Gotta Go There To Comeback"

yeah jet did that too, it pisses me off when bands like that try to con money out of people! as i get the albums from the top bands when they first come out and a few months later they re-release it with 1 extra song on! think travis did it too on the last album!

Theres several versions of the Jet album, one with extra tracks, and one with the extra track and DVD and the original one (which I have).

i saw the phonics live a few years ago and they were amazing, then I went to see them just after they sacked the drummer and it seemed like kelly just did not want to be there at all.

Don't think I will want to see them again. They have really gone shit. First and second album where brilliant after that god knows what happened
