COMIC Ricky Gervais has hired a Noel to record a version of Freelove Freeway for his Christmas special of The Office.

But don’t panic — it’s Oasis star Noel Gallagher, NOT Noel Edmonds of cheesy Noel’s House Party Fame.

Rocker Gallagher, 37, provides backing vocals for the song which Ricky wrote for his comedy creation, buffoon David Brent.

Noel appears with Ricky on The Office festive DVD after recording the tune in London.

The video shows the two pals fooling around in the studio.

Ricky, 43, wrote the ditty for an episode called Training, in series one of The Office. In that scene, Brent sings while strumming his guitar — badly.

Noel, who is a massive fan of The Office, asked to work with Ricky after seeing his stand-up show Politics. They were introduced by chat show star Jonathan Ross.

An insider said: “Ricky was well chuffed.” The DVD is out on October 25.

The office is the best programme ever. I find it funnier and funnier everytime I watch it (I must have seen all episodes over twenty times now, some alot more). Freelove Freeway (the song noel has done) is a classic. I have the original David Brent version on my computer.

Howdo
15-09-2004, 18:22

Yeah lots of people I know dont really see why its funny. Its a case of love it or hate it. I suppose it depends on your sense of humour.

To be honest there is no way Noel can match or beat the original Freelove Freeway with Gareth and Tim providing the random backing vocals.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 18:15
had another attempt at watching the office last night and i honestly can't get into it!

weebrian
21-09-2004, 18:19
I watch at least an episode a day. Its the funniest thing ever.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 18:26
the 1 i watched last night, it was 1 of the lads birthday and he was sat in the office with a green radio cap on! i kept trying to watch the full episode but i really couldn't get into it!

weebrian
21-09-2004, 19:21
I know the one you mean. Its Tims 30th. That episode is a classic. The pub quiz is funny as hell and after it when Chris Finch throws Tims shoe over the roof is one of my top ten best office moments.

weebrian
21-09-2004, 19:23
Believe it or not Ive actually watched that episode twice since Sunday. Sad bastard i know but I cant get enough of the Office.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 19:47
i've not give up on it yet! going to get a dvd of it and lock myself away with a tv and dvd player and a pack of beer that never fails!

There isnt any canned laughter in The Office is there?

If not mabye thats why people dont get into it

weebrian
21-09-2004, 20:13
yeah thats a good point about no laughter.

the humour isnt obvious. its made as a documentary. the writers (gervais and merchant) have created some of the best characters ever (David Brent, Gareth, Finchy, Keith) which once youve watched it a few times you should hopefully understand them all more and see why they are all so funny.

Just about everything David Brent says is funny in my opinion.

The best episode ever is Series 2 episode one. This episode has my funniest TV moment ever when Brent is introducing himself to the new staff from Swindon.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 20:19
theres no canned laughter in the royle family but u seem to laugh ur bollocks off at that!

weebrian
21-09-2004, 20:21
i laugh more at the office than i do at royale family although i do find it quite funny. suppose it depends on your sense of humour.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 20:23
yeah it does! didn't take me long to get into the royle family but loads keep going on about the office and as much as i try, i can't get into it! i love brittish comedies too!

weebrian
21-09-2004, 20:29
i reccomend you watch series 2 episode 1. if you dont find the first 10 minutes of that funny you may as well give up.

Howdo
21-09-2004, 20:31
i'll lend that from my mate whos got all the office dvds! and try and watch that!

Watson
22-09-2004, 00:06
Or another way I think is good to find something funny when you dont normally, is get stoned, or pished. Stoned seems to work better for me. Everytime I have watched Scary Movie stoned, I laugh like fuck, but the 2 times I watched it normal, I had a few giggles and that was it

Although Airplane owns all films in the comedy industry, followed closely by Blazing Saddles

Howdo
22-09-2004, 07:49
yeah defo going to try that! i was the same with the scary movies films too! the 2nd had me in tears when i was pissed! so i bought it and watched it sober and it wasn't as good!

blazing saddles has to be pure comedy! another dvd i need to get!

Howdo
07-10-2004, 18:02
i am now a fan of the office :) watched the one with david brent playing the guiter in the meeting the other night, i was pissing myself! going to have to get myself some office dvds now!

weebrian
07-10-2004, 18:48
that is probably the second best one from series one. freelove freeway is a brilliant tune. my favourite bit from that episode is when keith records his answer machine message.

Howdo
07-10-2004, 18:55
i'll have to watch it again to find my fav bit as i was pissing myself at it!

weebrian
07-10-2004, 19:00
Chris trust me buy the DVDs. You will never get bored and they get funnier and funnier. Series 2 ep 1 is the funniest thing ever. In fact Im going to put it on right now.

Howdo
07-10-2004, 19:12
lol, will do mate! think i just need to get used to the chractors more then i'll find it more funny!

weebrian
07-10-2004, 20:10
yeah thats exactly what is funny. if you were just to watch one epsiode not knowing you probably wouldnt get it. at first most people cringe at David Brent but the more you watch it the more of a legend you think he is. The characters have been well thought out as well.
